Visiting Artist Residency Applications

Artists: Join us in the Museum of Glass Hot Shop for a week

Each year, Museum of Glass (MOG) invites artists to apply for a Visiting Artist Residency in the Hot Shop to explore new ideas and techniques or push the boundaries of a current series. Selected artists have full use of our state-of-the-art Hot Shop and the assistance of MOG's Hot Shop Team. Applications will be selected to support a wide variety of project scopes.

For 2026, the committee also strongly encourages proposals that are collaborative in nature or incorporate artistic ideas across disciplines or material.

The selection process will also include one project that draws connects between science and art, which will be awarded the Sheldon Levin Memorial Visiting Artist Residency (details below).

Applications are currently being accepted for 2026 Visiting Artist Residencies. The application deadline is Saturday, November 1, 2025 at midnight PST.

Sheldon Levin Memorial Application Visiting Artist Residency

Sheldon Levin started his volunteer career with Museum of Glass as a charter docent, participating in the first docent and volunteer training in 2002. He quickly started emceeing on Thursdays in the Hot Shop interpreting glassblowing techniques, helping thousands of visitors understand the art of glassblowing from both artistic and scientific perspectives. To honor his memory, Museum of Glass invites artists who are inspired by connections between art and science to apply for the Sheldon Levin Memorial Application Visiting Artist Residency.

Application FAQs:

What does the selection committee look for in a compelling application?
Our selection committee looks for proposals that are clear and concise, and are supported by photographs of prototypes or concept sketches. Priority will be given to artists who are experimenting with new ideas or techniques.

I’ve been at MOG recently. Can I reapply?
Artists are only eligible for a residency at Museum of Glass every three years. For example, if you were awarded a 2025 Residency at the Museum, we ask that you not apply again until 2028.

Is there any wiggle room with the submission deadline?
No. Please submit an application by the deadline (11/01/25) to ensure consideration. Late applications will not be reviewed. Applicants will receive a confirmation email upon the delivery of their application to Museum of Glass.
