Red hot gala

save the date: september 29, 2018

Over 300 glass enthusiasts attended Crystal BallMOG’s 15th Annual Red Hot Auction & Gala on Saturday, September 16, 2017. The event celebrated the works of more than 55 artists and offered opportunities to participate in nearly 25 one-of-a-kind experiences via the live and silent auctions. Funds raised directly support the community and educational programs, exhibitions, and visiting artist program offered by Museum of Glass.

Highlights of the evening included the auction of a piece donated by glass Maestro Lino Tagliapietra and a live orchestral performance by the Tacoma Sinfonietta during the cocktail reception. The Raise the Paddle portion of the evening was sponsored by the Klorfine Foundation and was supported by matching gifts from Dale and Leslie Chihuly, and Museum trustee Robert Minkoff. Also announced was the promised gift of a magnificent collection of Renѐ Lalique glass, offered to the Museum by Steve and Roslyn Shulman of Long Beach, California.

MOG welcomed a national audience with 100 members of Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG). Additionally, Martin Blank was in attendance as the guest artist. Blank was joined in the Hot Shop by his close friend, acclaimed mixed-media sculpture artist Albert Paley, whose exhibition, Complementary Contrasts: The Glass and Steel Sculptures of Albert Paley opened at the Museum on September 9.

Museum of Glass thanks everyone who joined us for the Gala; Honorary Chairs The Russell Family, Gala Co-Chairs Walt Riehl, Pat Riehl, Brittany Hobson and Billy Hobson; the entire Red Hot Gala Committee; MultiCare, Boeing, Lexus of Tacoma, and the many event sponsors who helped make the event a huge success.
