Introduced to glass 19 years ago, artist Sarah E. Gilbert communicates a narrative, cataloging and documenting the stories of daily life through the medium of glass. Her work primarily focuses on the time consuming process of cameo engraving as a way of creating imagery pulls from a long history dating back to Roman times.
Seattle artist Manuel Castro was first introduced to the art of glassblowing at Pratt Fine Arts Center in 1998. He later became part of the Manifesto glass team and world-renowned artist Lino Tagliapietra’s Seattle glassblowing team. Traditional Venetian techniques combined with modern concepts is the basis of his work.
