Serving our community.
Your patronage has allowed MOG to become a world class museum, fully dedicated to the medium of glass. You can help us continue to fulfill our mission, All Glass, All the Time, in the challenging year ahead—by making a gift to the 2009 annual fund.
You may already be familiar with the scientific explanation regarding a Rupert’s Drop. However, you may not realize that MOG itself is somewhat similar to this scientific phenomenon—we are an organization that is both strong and fragile simultaneously, and it is only with the support of our members, donors and friends that we remain able to do our very important work.
It’s been a year of many successes …
With your support, recent triumphs for MOG include a record year of attendance in 2008 with nearly 180,000 visitors. Lino Tagliapietra in Retrospect: A Modern Renaissance in Italian Glass represents our first exhibition to travel across the country. Martin Blank’s Fluent Steps monumental sculpture has been installed and is the first permanent outdoor installation since the Chihuly Bridge of Glass. These, along with many other accomplishments, create a solid organization and keep us on the path to long-term success.
However, the stresses are many.
Similar to a Rupert’s Drop (albeit less dramatic!) we do need ongoing financial support to keep stresses in the teardrop to a minimum. MOG is continuously challenged to keep up with rising costs of maintaining and operating the Hot Shop, providing quality education programs to visitors, and bringing engaging works to the galleries. To keep up with these challenges, we have reduced expenses, enhanced efficiencies and maximized existing revenue streams. Despite all efforts, we still have gaps in our operational needs.
Your support will make us stronger.
We have a goal to raise $150,000, helping us continue our valuable work this year. With your support—and the support of others like you—just think how strong we can make our Rupert’ Drop.
Gifts of any amount are appreciated. Please give generously.
