Kids Design Glass

Our Kids Design Glass program invites children 12 and under to stretch their imaginations and create original designs based on the artwork displayed at the Museum. The whimsical designs kids create stretch the talents of our highly-skilled glassblowing team—and they love the challenge! One entry is selected to be interpreted into glass by the Hot Shop Team each month. Two sculptures are created—one for the designer to take home and one for the Museum's collection and upcoming exhibition.

Draw your idea…

for something you’d like to see made out of glass. (You can use crayons, markers, paint, collage, etc., and the design is totally up to you—have fun and be creative!)

Fill out an entry form…

at the Museum’s Education Studio and turn it in with your design.

MOG glassblowers choose a winning design…

from the hundreds of entries (approximately one every month).

Watch us make your design in glass…

If we choose your design, we’ll call and invite you and your family to come to the Museum (for free). We’ll make one for you to keep and one for us.

We typically make Kids Design Glass creatures on the last Sunday of the month, but dates may vary. Check our Events Calendar for specific dates.

We may include your design in an exhibition…

that would begin at the Museum of Glass and travel to other museums around the country.

The Exhibition

Artwork from the Kids Design Glass program—the glass sculptures, the designs and photographs documenting the process—are now on display in our West Gallery.

Partnering with Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital

The Museum is proud to work with Mary Bridge to bring Kids Design Glass into the hospital and outpatient clinics.

Bright orange pedestals in the lobbies display two sculptures from the program, and Child Life Specialists, who already help children process their experiences through art, encourage kids to make and submit their own designs.
