Museum of Glass presents Dante's Inferno

Dante's Inferno

The Museum of Glass is proud to present our seasonal and delightfully scary theatrical production of Dante’s Inferno in the Hot Shop Amphitheater.

Adapted from The Divine Comedy, Dante’s Inferno tells the story of one man’s journey through the infinite torment of Hell, up the arduous slopes of Purgatory, and on to the glorious realm of Paradise.

The performances will take place in the Hot Shop during the two weekends before Halloween, October 20-22 and 27-29, from 5:30 to 6:30pm.

The performance is included with Museum admission (or membership) and is $5 for the performance only. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.

The theatrical interpretation was adapted for the stage by David Francis, Cornish College of the Arts professor, and Sam Vance, former Museum of Glass studio and theatre artist, and the show is directed by Dashel Milligan. Actors include Lisa Confehr, Susan Graf, Tim Linnemann and Dashel Milligan.

About Dante

The son of an Italian nobleman, Dante Alighieri, (1265 - 1321) is considered one of the greatest poets of the Western World. After publishing a series of love poems to his beloved Beatrice (who died in 1290), he became deeply embroiled in Florentine politics, eventually leading to exile from the city in 1302. During his exile, he composed The Divine Comedy, an epic poem that featured the poet himself as a character and imagined Hell in intriguing and descriptive detail.
